Cordierite ceramic part is a type of magnesium aluminum silicate with particularly good thermal shock properties. Cordierite ceramic part also has low thermal conductivity and thermal expansion, while also being cost-effective. Often used as a structural ceramic for kiln furniture applications, it also finds uses in other applications where rapid temperature changes take place.
The dense version of cordierite can be easily pressed to make technical components while the porous version offers superior thermal shock properties and therefore finds uses in heating applications.
* Excellent thermal shock properties
* Low thermal conductivity and thermal expansion
* Good mechanical strength
* Can be used up to approximately 1370°C
* Outstanding crack-resistance
